Day 1

So here it is my first blog about my favorite person, Demetri!
Today is the first day of seeing my little boy as a little man, of course a man with Big Bird underwear! Last night I thought back to bringing him home from the hospital and how nervous we were just to change his diaper correctly and now to him walking, speaking in sentences, and no more diapers! We have truly treasured every minute that has brought us here and look forward to this new challenge that promises to teach us more patience that I'm sure we will be tapping in future years!
We started to try this now because he begin to tell us to change his diaper after he went about 3 weeks ago. His diaper would also not be as soaked as it used to be along with the fact that I think he's just a genius and can handle anything I throw his way! My game plan was to begin with underwear and only use the pull ups for the daycare and at night. Yesterday PJ and I went and bought 3 packages of underwear of all different characters and then some plain white Fruit of the Loom(now that would make a cute commercial). Our underwear total was 17 pairs.
Here we are armed with a potty that makes music(wouldn't it be great to hook up your ipod to this and create a playlist) a 2 year old, 17 pairs of underwear, and some pull ups and we begin......
8:00 am - D wakes up
8:13 am - D has first accident on kitchen floor
8:26 am -D has second accident on kitchen floor
8:27 am - I am thinking that this kid is being confined to the kitchen all day because I don't want to mop every square inch of my house
Somewhere between the 3rd and 4th accident he says potty after there is pee all over everywhere. I see this as my first triumph!
10:30 am - PJ and I have a conversation that we had no idea that he could pee so much in one morning!
11:00 am - D is helping me clean out the pantry and has 5th accident on my tupperware!
Morning end count of dirty underwear is 6, potty 0!
Afternoon, decided that bribery would enter the picture and begin to offer one mini
marshmallow for trying. This actually works! Of course, after that he just wants to go into the bathroom for one of those little tasty treats!
By the end of the day we had 2 little pee pee's in the potty and not a completely empty bag of marshmellow's so I see this as a success!
My biggest surprise today was that it is was difficult to have him stay on the potty.
We will figure it out in the days to come, we'll see how day 2 goes in the daycare!
